At Medicinski center Ljubljana, GM-O Otorinolaringologija runs the ENT clinic. Otorhinolaryngology covers the ears, the nose with the sinuses, the pharynx and the larynx.

Reasons for a visit include recurring ear infections, a blocked ear, ringing in the ears, a nose that stays blocked for a long time, recurring sinusitis, problems with the sense of smell, tonsillitis, hoarseness that won't go away, and snoring.

These areas are more connected than they seem, so one examination often covers several complaints at once. Treatment is self-pay and you do not need a referral.

Allergic rhinitis is treated by ENT when the nose and sinuses are the main issue. When the allergy mainly shows in the lower airways, with coughing and wheezing, the pulmonology clinic is a better fit; at the centre it also covers allergic conditions.

Many problems pass on their own. A nose blocked by a cold, hoarseness after a loud evening and a mild sore throat usually do not need a specialist; book when the problem persists or keeps coming back.

Sudden hearing loss in one ear, severe ear pain with a high fever, difficulty breathing or swallowing with swelling of the neck, and a foreign body in the airway require immediate treatment. Call 112.

The ENT clinic at the centre is run by two providers, GM-O and ZZ Zdravje, both on a self-pay basis. Each runs its own booking.

For the examination, bring reports from previous treatment and a list of your medicines, including nasal drops and sprays. If you had a hearing test elsewhere, bring that report too; a comparison with the previous state tells more than a single measurement.
