Očesni center Veselica is a partner ophthalmology clinic at Medicinski center Ljubljana. At the centre it runs the ophthalmology clinic – vision and eye examinations. Treatment is self-pay, and booking is done directly with the centre.
What an eye examination includes
At Medicinski center Ljubljana, Očesni center Veselica runs the ophthalmology clinic. The examination includes an assessment of visual acuity and determination of your prescription, an examination of the front of the eye and of the back of the eye, and a measurement of eye pressure.
People come because of blurred vision, difficulty reading up close, dry or watery eyes, floaters, and because their glasses are no longer right. After the examination you receive a report and, if needed, a prescription for glasses.
Some examinations are preventive. Raised eye pressure and early glaucoma cause no symptoms for a long time, so an examination makes sense even when you see well.
Sudden loss of vision, flashes of light with a sudden shower of floaters, a shadow across part of your field of vision, severe eye pain with redness, and an eye injury or chemical burn cannot wait for an appointment. In those cases seek urgent eye care straight away, and if things get much worse, call 112.
What to plan for the day of the examination
To examine the back of the eye, drops to dilate the pupils are often needed. Afterwards your vision is blurred for a few hours and your eyes are sensitive to light.
So do not plan to drive that day. Come with someone or by public transport, and bring sunglasses. There is a step-free route to the centre at Vilharjev podhod 1, and the entrance to the car park is from Hacquetova ulica.
Contact lens wearers should not wear them for some time before the examination, as a lens changes the shape of the cornea and therefore the measured values. How long beforehand, you will be told when you book.
Booking online or by phone
Treatment is self-pay and you do not need a referral. Booking is handled by Očesni center Veselica, online or by phone; both routes are equally valid, but appointments cannot be booked on this website.
The ophthalmology clinic at the centre is run by two providers, Očesni center Veselica and ZZ Zdravje. With both, treatment is self-pay, and each runs its own booking and its own schedule.
Bring the glasses and lenses you use, ideally your older glasses too, as well as reports from previous eye examinations and a list of your medicines.
